We have a great bedtime routine. It’s actually helped with our 2 yr old too. It’s a really nice time for us all to connect in the evening. They both settle to sleep really well now. He still goes through times of waking more regularly but he only woke twice last night which is a massive difference.

I am writing with an update, I’m sorry it has been so long. Tess’ sleep is so much better, I feel like a new woman! Tess now normally only wakes about once a night at about 3am, has a quick feed and then kicks me out of her bed! She then sleeps through until the morning. She has even slept through one night which felt like a miracle!
Thank you for sharing your ideas, there was so much to choose from and some really simple ideas. Mostly it was just nice to hear that her sleep was normal and that “quick fixes” aren’t always what they seem.

“Hi Sarah
Freddie’s sleep is much better and I think it’s for several reasons. Firstly we have relaxed hugely and have accepted that he isn’t going to be a 12 hour a night sleeper! He goes to bed around 8-8.30pm which is later than we were trying for before….He gets into bed with us around 4am, which is fine and rather nice as he does fab cuddles, and sleeps till around 7-7.30am.

“Dear Sarah,
I thought it was about time to give you an update re my toddler’s sleeping habits!
She has actually gone through a bit of a transformation of late… I really don’t know whether it’s your tips or whether she’s reached a certain age and is naturally calming down, I suspect a good dose of each?!
For about two weeks she has regularly been SLEEPING THROUGH from 7:15pm until 7:15am OR LATER!!!! I can’t believe it. It is heaven……I’m so happy and I still can’t quite believe how different her sleep is. I really don’t mind getting up a bit for her, I’m just so happy she is not consistently waking up every couple of hours, it has really eased things for us all (especially as the baby is still being a bit of a pickle!)
Thank you so much for your advice. It really gave me the chance to think about how we do things and how I can tweak it and it has clearly worked!

I just wanted to say thank you for replying to my email last week, for listening and understanding. It was a particularly hard week last week. Juggling 3 little ones is not for the feint hearted. Alfie has slept really well past 4 nights.

Things have been a bit better since last Friday. He has been doing OK at night….. In general he has been waking up later – still gets in with us about 4 or 5 but then sleeps soundly until 7.
